Universal studios brand Naming Messaging Identity Campaigns

When Universal Studios wanted to launch a new satellite and cable movie channel in Europe they asked Thinkfarm to create a brand identity and a set of communications tools. Universal is a movie maker and therefore stands above other channels who are simply exhibitors and this was important to reflect in the identity. Our work, apart from the core identity included print, on air idents and stings giving an indication of the range of films that would be available to viewers including a series of short channel idents filmed in the style of specific film genres.

The main Studio Universal channel ‘Hero’ ident is itself a short story explaining that, above all, this is the movie channel from people who are movie makers themselves.

‘Tank’ echoes Universal’s catalogue of WW2 movies.

‘8-ball’ references a a wide variety of road movies in Universal’s catalogue.
