With the film industry’s best Production Designers and Art Directors amongst their client list, DRS Film Sets asked us to evolve their brand so that the full-on, epic scale of the film sets they make for feature films and TV dramas could really shine. But to do it in a way that recognised the considerable character and strengths of their tight-knit team of talented people.
Film making is a global business, with purchasing decisions often made by Production Departments on the other side of the world. Responding to this, our overriding aim was to give DRS the disciplined online front window they’d never had before. We made sure that the design, writing and structure of their new website conveyed their core strengths – totally believable sets, built on time with outstanding creativity and always on budget – with total clarity. The site features every project the team wanted to showcase and is controlled with a simple-to-use content management system so that the site can be maintained and easily updated. www.drsfilmsets.com
One of our first creative tasks was to give the firm a clearer and more concise title and descriptor that the rather long-winded incumbent; “DRS Construction / Set building for Film and Television”. As part of the ensuing design process, we redesigned the newly named “DRS Film Sets” logo and visual identity to reflect the often-hand crafted nature of their set builds, helped rewrite their central positioning language and created a simple video overlay technique to showcase just how much the team actually use digital technology during the planning stages of a project.
